Figures provided by homeless charity RecLink estimate the number of homeless peoplenationwide at about 110,000.

A former medical professional, Professor BASHIR says many homeless people suffer frommental illnesses and more should be done to assist organisations who help fight the problem.

About 1,000 of Sydney's homeless people will mark National Homeless Week this weekby exhibiting their art and releasing a collection of poems.
